Recent Post on Facebook- re asking for Identification

I recently read a post on  Facebook, asking if meeting guests in person at the property and requesting to see their Government I.D would deter scammers. Most hosts replied Yes it would help, they said they asked for I.D. one i saw presented their guest with an additional contract to sign.

It is law in Australia to check identity as to the reason, STS Short Term Service-require a Government issued Identity with clear photo i.e Drivers Licence or Passport.

It could also be a scam host, what if they take a deposit and the property doesn’t exist or is not legally theirs to advertise ?

Surely Guests are entitled to know your identity has been checked.

I have wondered if the requirements for your I.D. to contribute with STS Short Term Service websites is detering advertisers ?

For this business Identity and genuine host advertisers/guests is crucial.
